Cusco (3,300m.s.n.m.) – Andes- (3650m.s.n.m.) Cloud Forest (1,700m.s.n.m.), Basin (250m.s.n.m.)
Manu National Park covers an area of almost two million hectares, and is categorized as one of the most extensive parks in South America. The first day we travel in our private minivan eleven hours from Cusco through the Andes, cloud forest and low forest before descending to the river plains of Manu. We drive six hours on our last day, back to Cusco. On the second and third days we travel 7 hours in our private motorized canoe as part of our adventure.

IS THIS TRIP RIGHT FOR YOU?

Can you acclimate from high to low altitude? On this four day Manu adventure, we begin in the city of Cusco resting high in the Andes at 3500m (11,152 ft. above sea level). To help you acclimate to the high altitude we recommend drinking plenty of water, including the local coca tea at your hotel before leaving to help. The high drive through the Andes will last about 4 hours until we reach the entrance of the Manu National Park. We are equipped with oxygen in case of any emergency. We will descend through cloud forests to reach the delta at 650 meters above sea level, where the temperature rises to a balmy 33 ° at 38 °. Again we recommend drinking plenty of water and have your repellent ready.

On the first day of travel there will be many bumps, curves, and beautiful panoramas that make you feel the adventure. The next day we will continue traveling in the van to lowlands until we reach Atalaya where we take our motorized boat until we reach 350m.

During the voyage you don’t have to worry about lugging your bag! We’ll transfer and store the luggage you bring between shelters, boat, or minivan, so while hiking you are light on the trails in search of wildlife. Just bring a daypack to carry your water, repellent, camera and snack. Your hike level is easy: our trails are flat and do not require much physical effort. Our hostels are very accessible and designed with elderly guests and children in mind.

MEETING POINT AND PICK UP

The meeting point or pick up will be at your Cusco hotel, our Guide will meet you with our private mini van.

Most certainly we’ll see timid tarantulas that go out hunting in the dark.
